Germany’s Most Sustainable Companies Wanted

The competition for the 15^th German Sustainability Award has started. Stakeholders can apply until June 3 in the categories of companies, design, start-ups, packaging and “local heroes.”

“In 2022, we have further developed all formats and launched new ones,” says Stefan Schulze-Hausmann, chairman of the board of the Stiftung Deutscher Nachhaltigkeitspreis e.V.(German Sustainability Award Foundation). The German Sustainability Award is the national award for excellence in sustainability in business, communities, and research. With eight competitions, over 1,200 applicants and 2,000 guests to the events, the award is the largest of its kind in Europe. Sustainability-focused companies of all sizes can apply in one or more categories until June 3, 2022. Awards will be given to transformative business models (DNP Company), sustainably designed products (DNP Design), start-ups, and start-up collaborations in the green economy (NEA 2.0), future-proof packaging solutions (Special Packaging Award) and, for the first time, special regional commitment (“Local Heroes”).

Applications are submitted via an online questionnaire and are initially evaluated by experts from the assessment teams. Finalists and winners will be decided on by the DNP’s independent juries (in some cases supplemented by public voting) starting September 2022.

Nominees, finalists, and winners will be included in the DNP’s broad coverage in cooperation with more than 50 media partners. They are also given the opportunity to communicate their successes to the outside world via the seal of the DNP.

The German Sustainability Award is presented by the German Sustainability Award Foundation in cooperation with the German federal government, leading municipal associations, business associations, civil society organizations, and research institutions. The framework for the award ceremony is the German Sustainability Day in Düsseldorf, the most visited annual communication platform on the topics of sustainable development.

Machinery Manufacturers are Currently Drawing on their High Order Backlogs

A recent survey by the VDMA shows that 44 percent of mechanical engineering companies in Baden-Württemberg are cautiously optimistic about the rest of the year. The reason for this is an improvement in the supply of materials, with the exception of electronic components. As a result, 68 percent of companies in Baden-Württemberg expect nominal sales growth for 2023.
