As of 1 December 2019, Martin Buchwitz will be following in Kurt Engel's footsteps as the new Managing Director of Packaging Valley Germany e.V.
The change marks the end of an era. Since the association was founded in 2007, Kurt Engel has been responsible for the business from his base in Schwäbisch Hall. Together with the founding members he steered Packaging Valley into the future and turned the association into a competence cluster known far beyond the region and even internationally. Engineer Martin Buchwitz (on the right) has been on board since 1 October 2019 and will be taking the helm at the end of the year.
The community was very close to Kurt Engel’s heart. For him, the Packaging Valley is more than just an amalgamation. During his term of office, it was to become a profitable network for members, customers and employees. The large joint stand at trade fairs is only one part of Kurt Engel’s work for Packaging Valley. He was also involved in bringing a Virtual Reality Center to Schwäbisch Hall. This was intended to encourage the cluster to expand its status as an innovative technology stronghold.
“It is possible to achieve more together and to celebrate achievements better together,” explains Kurt Engel, talking about Packaging Valley. “In addition, we possess enormous expertise in packaging machinery construction here, and this can develop its potential even more effectively through the community.
“The footsteps are great – no question about it, but there is still room for new ones. Of course, I want to continue what has been achieved, but I also want to break new ground,” says Martin Buchwitz. The new managing director knows Mechanical Engineering from many sides. As a trained electronics engineer, he worked in automation technology. Sales and marketing, as well as press and public relations work in this area were stations in his career. Most recently, he worked as a freelancer for industrial image processing companies and non-profit organizations.
In addition to the association Packaging Valley Germany e.V., Martin Buchwitz will also manage the Technology Centre and Hohenlohe Plus Initiative as Managing Director. This lends additional importance to the topic of “skilled workers in the Hohenlohe region”.
