Norma Is Banking on New Battery Packaging

Norma is expanding its range of sustainably packaged products: The Nuremberg-based discount grocer is changing the packaging of two types of batteries.

While the Powertec Electric Mignon AA and Powertec Electric Micro AAA battery types were previously wrapped in a cardboard card with a plastic blister cover, they will now be replaced by pure cardboard packaging. In the coming months, the changeover will also take place for other battery types, the company explains. The fact that the sleeves are now made entirely of cardboard also means that they can be easily returned to the recycling loop by disposing of them in the paper waste, the company adds.

In addition to changing the material, the discounter is also adjusting the contents: in the future, the two battery types will contain ten batteries per pack instead of eight. This means that less packaging will have be produced overall.
